STUDENTS RETURN TO SCHOOL
Students from Cherokee Central Schools enjoyed Spring Break last week but have returned back to class! Please be aware of the School Buses on their morning and afternoon routes. As the weather warms, children are anxious to get home to play outdoors and may not have their minds on safety. Watch for the students to load and unload the buses safely.
DISTRACTED DRIVING AWARENESS
April 2014 is Distracted Driving Awareness Month. According to the National Safety Council, thousands die needlessly each year because people continue to use their cell phones while driving, handheld or hands-free. Join the National Safety Council this month in urging those you care about to: stop using their cell phones while driving; recognize that hands-free devices offer no safety benefit; understand the dangers of the cognitive distraction to the brain; and tell others about the dangers of cell phone distracted driving.
The National Safety Council estimates 25 percent of crashes involve cell phones (21 percent due to phone conversations and 4 percent due to text messaging). Drivers using handheld or hands-free cell phones are four times as likely to crash. The number one cause of workplace death is car crashes followed by assaults, incidents involving objects or equipment and falls. Think of your safety and the safety of those around you – be responsible.

If you would like to assist the Children’s Home with construction costs through donations or payroll deduction, please contact Cris Weatherford or Tigger Lambert 497-5009.
