CULLOWHEE – The Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse will host a daylong training session on integrated care and recovery Monday, April 7, at Western Carolina University.
The event, to be held from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m. in Room 204 of the Health and Human Sciences Building, is open to all students, people with personal experience in the area of substance abuse, prevention specialists, treatment and recovery providers, and other stakeholders.
L. Worth Bolton, clinical assistant professor in the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s School of Social Work, will lead the training workshop that will include sessions on integrated care and screening, brief intervention and referral to treatment (SBIRT) and recovery-oriented systems of care, as well as a screening of the film “The Anonymous People.”
The workshop is free, and lunch will be served to attendees. Space is limited, and the deadline to register is Thursday, April 3. The workshop will lead to six hours of substance abuse specific credit hours by the N.C. Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board.
The event is sponsored by the Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse in partnership with the UNC School of Social Work’s Behavioral Health Resource Program and Western Carolina University’s Department of Social Work. Funding for the event is provided by the N.C. Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services.
