CONGRATULATIONS LADY CARDINALS!

A large group of fans from Cherokee traveled to Louisville Sunday to watch the Louisville Lady Cardinals basketball team.  They were treated to a good game with the Lady Cardinals coming out on top to defeat Rutgers 73-58.  Shoni and Jude Schimmel, Umatilla Indians from the Umatilla Reservation in Oregon, both play for Louisville.

Boys Club President Wilbur Paul beaded a pair of key chains bearing Shoni and Jude’s names to present to the two girls after the game.

CHILDREN’S HOME NEWS

Site work is nearing completion for the new Cherokee Children’s Home.  A photo was posted Friday on the Boys Club’s Facebook page showing the site on Goose Creek in the Birdtown Community.

Cris Weatherford, Children’s Home Manager, will be meeting with different programs in the near future to encourage community participation in the construction fund-raising effort by donating through payroll deduction.  Employees of the Boys Club are already participating in the payroll deduction plan.
