BASKETBALL: Braves defeat Mitchell, lose to Avery

The Cherokee Braves (2-1) split games in the Harvest Hoot Invitational tournament this past weekend in Mitchell.

They beat Mitchell 67-66 in the first round on Friday, Nov. 23.  Cherokee jumped out to a 33-25 lead by halftime.  Both teams were even at 19-19 in the third, and the Braves held off a Mitchell charge in the fourth to take the one-point win.

Seth Littlejohn led the way for Cherokee with 20 points followed by Dustin Johnson with 18.  Other scorers for the Braves included: Jesse Toineeta 6, Raven Frankiewicz 4, Darius Thompson 14 and Eli Littlejohn 5.

Austin Mask led Mitchell with 28 points followed by Cody Willis with 11.

The next day, the Braves fell to Avery 51-43.  Stats for that game were unavailable by press time.
