The next meeting of the Healing and Wellness Coalition will be Tuesday, Jan. 17 from 11:30am – 1pm at Living Waters Lutheran Church on Locust Road off Goose Creek Road. Bring your own lunch.
The Coalition is Cherokee’s own grassroots movement for the reduction of substance abuse and other health challenges among the Cherokee people and 2012 is the group’s 10-year Anniversary.
“We are excited about several initiatives that are being planned through out the year so please plan to join us,” said Coalition officials. “The Coalition is committed to enhancing the lives of the people by honoring and reclaiming the seven Cherokee core values especially by the reduction of substance abuse in a comprehensive manner primarily focusing on youth. The seven core values are: Spirituality, Harmony, Education, Sense of Place, Honoring the Past, Strong Character and Sense of Humor.”
