The Boys Club has started their annual school bus safety classes for the students of Cherokee Schools.  This week students from Pre-K, STARS and 1st through 5th grades will board a school bus and ride to the Cherokee Boys Club to watch a video and get instruction on safety issues.

Everyone should note that as the days get shorter, students may be catching the bus in the morning or riding the bus home in the evening without as much daylight as before.  Please watch out for these students and encourage your children to watch out for the traffic.

Congratulations to Terry Bradley, the Boys Club’s IT Coordinator, for being appointed to the Board of Advisors for Cherokee Broadband Enterprises.  Terry’s appointment was confirmed by Tribal Council Resolution on September 28.

Congratulations to Kristie Hyatt for being named Miss Cherokee and to all the young ladies that vied for the royalty titles.  We are proud of all of you!  Thanks to everyone who participated in and coordinated the pageant activities.  Thanks also to Miss Cherokee 2010, Tonya Carroll, for her excellent service and representation of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians.

Congratulations to the Varsity Braves Football Team for their win over Rabun Gap.  Please support your Braves this Friday night as they travel to Swain County to compete against the Maroon Devils.

Congratulations to Principal Chief Michell Hicks, Vice Chief Larry Blythe, all of Tribal Council and the Cherokee School Board who were sworn in at the Inauguration Ceremonies on Monday.  The Club supports our leadership and will provide assistance any way we can to help our youth, our school, our leaders and our community.

Congratulations to Abigail Long for being named the Homecoming Queen for Cherokee High School.

Congratulations to the Lady Braves Cross Country team for their recent wins!
