Tsa La Gi Flames ignite on home turf
By Michelle Ledford
The Tsa La Gi Flames hosted a U12 and U14 Tournament on Saturday, Nov. 14 at the Wolftown Soccer Complex, which brought in teams from as far as Hayesville, Brevard and even Atlanta. The day started off with a bit of a nip in the air, but turned out to be a beautiful sunny day for soccer.
The morning was dedicated to the U12 part of the Tournament, which ended up being a battle between Atlanta U12 Coed Team 1 and Hayesville U12. Atlanta Coed Team 1 managed to surprise Hayesville and won the championship game.
The U14 Tournament games started with the Tsalagi Flames playing against Atlanta U14 Coed Team 1. The Flames easily out skilled the Atlanta team for a 5-0 shutout win. Darius Thompson and Thomas Lossiah each scored two goals and Chris Queen scored one in the game.
The second game was Brevard vs Atlanta U14 Coed Team2, which Brevard won. That put the next game with the Flames facing off against Brevard.
The Flames rose to the task, outscoring and outmaneuvering Brevard to win 6-3. Scoring for the Flames were Russell Bigmeat and Chayton Thompson with two goals each, Jeremy Parker and Thomas Lossiah for one each.
Since this was Brevard’s first loss, the championship would be decided by another match up between the Flames and Brevard. The championship game was more of a challenge, as Brevard was determined not to lose a second time. Despite all their efforts, the Flames managed to pull off the victory and win the U14 Championship by a score of 2-0 with Bigmeat and Lossiah scoring one goal each.
