Cherokee (8-4) got its first playoff win since 2008 with a big home win on Friday, Nov. 18.

The Pisgah Bears topped Cherokee 39-25 in a varsity wrestling match at Cherokee on Tuesday, Nov. 15.

Darius Lambert, sophomore member of the Cherokee Braves cross country team, took third place at the 1A state cross country meet at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville on Saturday, Nov. 5.

Cherokee ended their regular season with four straight wins that were capped off with a victory over Hayesville (2-8) at Ray Kinsland Stadium on Friday Nov. 4.

Valerie Baety, a junior at Southern Virginia University, can set a volleyball. And, she can set it well.

Cherokee’s Darius Lambert followed up last week’s Smoky Mountain Conference championship with a third place finish at the 1A West Regional meet on Saturday, Oct. 29.

After falling behind 18-12 at the end of third quarter, the Cherokee Braves (6-4, 3-2 in Smoky Mountain Conference) roared back with 13 points in the final quarter to topple Robbinsville 25-18.

The cold, drizzly rain fell intermittently throughout the game, but there was no stopping Isaiah Evans on the night of Friday, Oct. 21.
