The Cherokee Braves (9-5) ended their 2016 campaign with a third round playoff loss on a chilly night in Mitchell County.

The Cherokee Braves (9-4) won their sixth straight game of the season in dramatic fashion as they edged the North Duplin Rebels in the second round of the 1A state playoffs on Friday, Nov. 25.

WRESTLING: Pisgah tops Cherokee 39-25
The Pisgah Bears topped Cherokee 39-25 in a varsity wrestling match at Cherokee on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
CROSS COUNTRY: Lambert takes third at state meet
Darius Lambert, sophomore member of the Cherokee Braves cross country team, took third place at the 1A state cross country meet at the Ivey Redmon Sports Complex in Kernersville on Saturday, Nov. 5.
FOOTBALL: Mintz scores five TDs, Braves roll over Hayesville
Cherokee ended their regular season with four straight wins that were capped off with a victory over Hayesville (2-8) at Ray Kinsland Stadium on Friday Nov. 4.
VOLLEYBALL: Baety hits milestone with Southern Virginia University
