The Cherokee Braves varsity basketball season drew to a close on Monday, Feb. 22 following a loss in the 1st Round of the Sectional Playoffs.

The Cherokee Lady Braves edged Highlands 43-36 in the 1st Round of the 1A Sectional Playoffs on Monday, Feb. 22.

The Robbinsville Black Knights edged the Hayesville Yellow Jackets 67-64 in the semi-finals of the boys Smoky Mountain Conference Basketball Tournament held at the Cherokee Schools Arena on Thursday, Feb. 18.

The Andrews Wildcats boys team defeated Cherokee 64-51 in a game played at Swain High School on Thursday, Feb. 18 that would help determine seeding for the upcoming Sectional playoffs.

After crushing Andrews the night before, the Cherokee Lady Braves couldn’t find their shooting range on Thursday, Feb. 18 as they lost by 10 to the Murphy Lady Bulldogs in the semifinals of the girls Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament.

While the Lady Braves celebrated their first round victory, it was a different outcome for the Cherokee Braves boys teams in the opening round of the Smoky Mountain Conference Tournament on Wednesday, Feb. 17 as they lost to rival Swain 70-62.
