Cherokee Middle School honored its 2013-14 athletes during a program at the Chief Joyce Dugan Cultural Arts Center on Friday, May 23. Cance Carnes, CMS principal, commented, “I want to thank all of our coaches. They have done a tremendous job.”

Cherokee High School seniors Darius Thompson and Avery Mintz were named the Athletes of the Year at the annual Athletic Awards program held Friday, May 23 at the Chief Joyce Dugan Cultural Arts Center.

Cherokee High School held a signing ceremony for senior Tagan Crowe at the Charles George Arena on Wednesday, May 21. Crowe signed his letter of intent to continue his illustrious golf career as a Lion at the Mars Hill University.

The Lady Braves fell to the Maroon Devils 5-0 on Tuesday, May 13 at the Swain County High School softball field during the first round of the 1A state playoffs.

The Lady Braves just couldn’t get much offense going as they hosted East Wilkes in the first round of the 1A state playoffs on Wednesday, May 14. East Wilkes’ Melia Higgins put two in the back of the net as they defeated Cherokee 2-0.
