The Cherokee Lady Braves had a tough final home match of the season as they hosted the Highlands Lady Highlanders on Monday, May 4.

As sports fan, we always want our team to win. But, many times the most memorable moments in sports are in games where our team didn’t get that “W”.

The Smoky Mountain Rollergirls’ junior league, the Lil’ Nemesisters and SMRG play their second bouts of their 2015 home season on Saturday, May 9 at the Swain County Recreation Center. Both teams contain several EBCI tribal members.

The phrase “bend it like Beckham” refers to the ability of English footballer David Beckham to make a soccer ball “bend” in the air – particularly on corner kicks. Cherokee fans got to see such a play as the Lady Braves hosted the Rabun Gap-Nacoochee Eagles on Friday, May 1.

It was a cold, windy and rainy day, but it didn’t dampen the competitive spirit as Cherokee hosted the Smoky Mountain Conference Track & Field Championship on Wednesday, April 29.

The Cherokee Middle School track teams traveled to the Smoky Mountain Conference Championships at Hayesville on Monday, April 27. The boys team took second place overall with a score of 85.5.

Cherokee High School junior, Christian Ensley, was named All-Conference at the conclusion of the Smoky Mountain Conference tournament at the Sapphire National Golf Club on Monday, April 27.

Storm Ledford, an EBCI tribal member at Swain, got a hat-trick to lead the Lady Maroon Devils over the Lady Braves 3-0 in a game at Swain on Monday, April 27.
