Memorial Day Remembrance scheduled in Cherokee
Sacrifice is meaningless without remembrance. The collective consciousness of all who love our country is acutely aware of the loss of our fellow citizens during wartime. On this day, each year, we remember.
Settlement investigation complete, no wrongdoing found
Tribal Council launched an investigation in January following a settlement payout to seven former employees of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. That investigation is now complete and has found there was no wrongdoing by Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed in the settlement process, and Tribal Council has committed to writing tribal law dealing with how lawsuit settlements are handled in the future.
Five issues discussed at Town Hall Meeting
Following the recent passage of legislation to hold bi-annual Town Hall Meetings for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, the first such event was held on the evening of Tuesday, May 15 at The Gathering Place on the campus of Cherokee Central Schools.

Cherokee Schools celebrate Earth Day
Students, teachers, parents, and grandparents from Cherokee Central Schools came together on a rainy Tuesday afternoon to celebrate Earth Day on April 22.
CHS Seniors travel to the Big Apple
Most teenagers are out on a Saturday night, watching movies, hanging out with their friends, looking for something to do, but for a group of Cherokee High School seniors, they boarded a Cherokee Boys Club charter bus on Saturday, April 17 at 10pm to travel to New York City for their senior trip.

A unique program will allow EBCI high school students and teachers a chance to learn about the world of archaeological field work.
