As we enter the last laps of the mid-term election process, it is a good idea sometimes to go grab a cup of coffee (or tea if that is your beverage of choice), get in a comfy, peaceful place, and ponder those things you hear or pick up during an average day on the Rez.

I hope to encourage church fellowship to follow God’s commission and commandments to make disciples who love one another.

Nobody, not one LGBTQ person should be unable to get married on the Rez nor be unable to have their marriages recognized.

Katelynn Ledford-McCoy is a light and source of inspiration in the Cherokee community.  She was recently chosen to be on the Native Women Run (NWR) team for the Chicago Marathon set for Sunday, Oct. 12. 

We now have our slate of candidates for the general election of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians. Out of 24 who will be on the ballot in September for Dinilawigi (Tribal Council), 41.7 percent or 11 candidates are attempting to retain their seats.

Friends… Isn’t it great when you know you have a faithful friend?

Many people do not have the vision to see the power of God in themselves. They lack confidence in themselves, which is a lack of faith in God who lives within them. 

Every year, over a thousand children, with parents, grandparents, aunties, and uncles in tow, fill the Oconaluftee Island Park on the Qualla Boundary (Cherokee, N.C.) for the annual Talking Trees Children’s Trout Derby sponsored by the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI).
