COMMENTARY: Addressing allegations against medical cannabis project
I am writing to you as the Chairwoman of the Qualla Enterprises, LLC Board of Managers. We are united in this response. Four of us are enrolled EBCI (Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians) members and all of us are members of the Western North Carolina community.
COMMENTARY: How do you fix a constitution?
I have reviewed the proposed constitution thoroughly and I am unclear as to exactly how changing this constitution will work. I will lay out what I understand to be the process and pose several questions.
SPEAKING OF FAITH: Do we know the end from the beginning?
“Today, my Assignment is to start with the end and then go to the beginning, and finish with Verse 4,” stated, Pastor Tim. So, I’m going to read the verses but we’re beginning with verse three, and will work our way back up to verse one today.
COMMENTARY: Let’s all paws for the cause.
Pets have become, for many, a necessary part of our lives. And way beyond our need, we lavish them with their wants or our wants.

Maybe if we had a constitution instead of a charter, things would not have been so frustrating this week. After all, as the Attorney General’s Office puts it, we would be talking about making amendments to it instead of overhauling it wholesale.
COMMENTARY: Perspective on consequences of constitution
If Tribal Council allows Resolution 559 (2023) to stand and the referendum for the constitution passes, it will bring consequences that many voting tribal members might not expect just by reading the words on the pages.
