Cherokee businesses honored at MED Awards
The 29th annual Minority Enterprise Development (MED) Week Awards was held Wednesday Sept. 21 at Homewood in Asheville North Carolina. Two Cherokee businesses were honored; Clear 1 Services, LLC and Long House Funeral Home.

3 to vie for Miss Cherokee title
Three young ladies will vie for the title of Miss Cherokee 2011 during the annual pageant scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 1 at 6pm at the Cherokee Cultural Arts Center.
Arneach receives Mountain Heritage Award
Western Carolina University Chancellor David O. Belcher presented 2011 Mountain Heritage Awards on Saturday, Sept. 24 to well-known Cherokee storyteller Lloyd Arneach and to the Stecoah Valley Cultural Arts Center, which has become a dynamic community hub in Graham County.
