Adjacent to one of the most beautiful vistas in the Great Smoky Mountains, Bessie Queen French, an elder of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) cut a ribbon to officially complete the Soco Falls Trailhead Improvement Project. 

Travis Climbingbear, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), was found not guilty on all seven charges by a jury of his peers in Cherokee Tribal Court on the afternoon of July 22 with Chief Judge Monty Beck presiding.

Shinnecock Tribal citizens are asserting aboriginal fishing rights in court, seeking a decision that would confirm their right to continue their ancestral fishing practices in Shinnecock Bay in Long Island, New York.

The Lands Committee, originally known as the Land Committee, was established with the passage of Res. No. 520 on Oct. 12, 1962. 

The Cherokee Police Commission met in the Ginger Lynn Welch large conference room on the afternoon of Thursday, July 17.  The meeting was called to order at noon by Chairperson Anita Lossiah.

Around 32 percent of the registered voters of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians turned out to cast a ballot in the Primary Election on Thursday, July 17.  According to information from the EBCI Board of Elections, 1,370 of the 4,285 registered voters cast a ballot for a voter participation of 31.97 percent.
