TERO holds Tribal Contract Training
The Tribal Employment Rights Office (TERO) held a training on Wednesday, July 20 to help program personnel better understand the Independent Contract Agreement (ICA), which is the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) standardized contractual agreement for establishing formal working relationships for products and services. Hosted by Terri Henry, executive director of TERO, the training was conducted by Michael McConnell, EBCI’s attorney general.
Council approves $3 million to start Fairgrounds renovation project
The Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds is in need of renovation to the point that the annual Cherokee Indian Fair, the largest annual event of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI), is not able to be held there safely. Council supports Clingman’s Dome name change
The area of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park known as Clingman’s Dome has been known for thousands of years by Cherokee people as Kuwahi (“mulberry place”). The Tribal Council of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians (EBCI) approved legislation during its regular session on Thursday, July 14 that supports changing the name back to that historic, traditional name.
