Unity stressed by new Council following Inauguration
Following a year of turmoil within the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, unity was the word of the day on Monday, Oct. 2 as the Tribe held an Inauguration.

The EBCI Board of Elections issued a “Combined Decision on the Protests of Ashley Sessions and Albert Rose” on Thursday, Sept. 28 wherein they decided to hold a run-off election in the Birdtown Community between Sessions and Rose on Tuesday, Oct. 10.
Tribal Council approves FY18 Budget
For the first time since 2013, the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians tribal government will not be operating on a continuing resolution at the beginning of the fiscal year which starts Sunday, Oct. 1.

UltraStar Multi-Tainment enjoying relationship with Tribe
Little Miss Cherokee Nevayah Panther and Principal Chief Richard G. Sneed cut the ribbon on Aug. 30 to officially open the UltraStar Multi-Tainment Center at Harrah’s Cherokee Casino Resort. Since then, many of the employees hired at the Center are EBCI tribal members.
EBCI Executive Committee processes over 50 employment actions
The Executive Committee of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians met and processed more than 50 employment actions on Monday, Sept. 18. This began the reactivation of the Human Resources hiring for the Tribe.

Cherokee’s Eclipse Celebration turns profit
Over 1,200 people watched the frog swallow the sun at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds during the total solar eclipse on Monday, Aug. 21. The event, known as the Cherokee Cultural Eclipse Celebration, made money for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and local hoteliers and businesses.
