The annual Tribal Council Awards Day program was held on Friday, May 9 at the Cherokee Indian Fairgrounds.
WCU holds commencements for record-breaking spring graduating class
Commencement ceremonies held for a record-breaking spring graduating class at Western Carolina University included recognition for undergraduate students recording perfect 4.0 GPAs, the awarding of an honorary doctorate to a Flat Rock resident and an address by one of the University of North Carolina system’s premier teachers.

EBCI tribal member Diamond Brown taught students Cherokee words during his recent visit to Hayesville. Diamond Brown, or better know as Go-Sti, which means Green Leaf in Cherokee grew up in the Snowbird Community of Graham County.
