A team of Great Smoky Mountains National Park employees was recently awarded the 2023 Excellence in Education Award at a National Park Service awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. Many of the agency’s top awards were presented at the 2023 National Service Awards ceremony.

Chi Shipman is dedicated to both learning the Cherokee language and sharing it with others.  She recently accepted the position as manager of the Qualla Boundary Public Library and hopes to be able to add Cherokee language in inventive ways there. 

Cherokee students and their families, along with Tribal officials and SCC leadership, gathered on Monday, Aug. 19 to celebrate their completion of the Facilities Maintenance program.

Brittany Fuller, a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians from Tsisqwohi (Birdtown), has recently taken over ownership of two local dance studios in Bryson City, N.C. and Robbinsville, N.C., formerly known as Pirouettes Dance and Cheer Academy. Under the new ownership, the studios have been renamed Leap of Faith Performing Arts.
