Theodore Jerome Brady, 80, of Bryson City, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, April 15, 2017. A native of Swain County, he was the son of the late Mary Brady McMillan. He was a member of Cherokee Baptist Church, a member of the Swain County Rescue Squad for 38 years and served two years in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians and retired from the N.C. Department of Transportation after 35 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred Brady, Larry, Howard and Earl McMillan; great granddaughter, Kali Cochran; and his father, T.H. Woods.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jean Brady; two daughters, Pamela Brady (Danny), Paula Brady (Tommy); grandson, Joshua Cochran (Lacey); great grandson, Levi Cochran; two step great granddaughters, Gabby and Maya; his aunt, Sally Rogers; sisters, Leola McMillan and Margaret Woods; brothers, Harold Woods, Herman, Wayne and Tommy McMillan; and multiple cousins, nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Tuesday, April 18 in the chapel of Crisp Funeral Home. Rev. Mike Cogdill and Joshua Cochran will officiate. Burial will be in the Holly Springs Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Bryson City VFW Post # 9281.
The family will receive friends from 6-9pm Monday at the funeral home.
Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Swain County Rescue Squad.
