Kimlyn Sneed Lambert, an EBCI tribal member, was sworn-in as the representative for the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians on the North Carolina State Rehabilitation Council at the EBCI Justice Center on Tuesday, June 9. She took the oath of office from Cherokee Tribal Judge Kirk Saunooke.
“It is an honor to be appointed to the Council by Governor McCrory,” said Lambert. “I look forward to serving on this Council to represent the EBCI and all the other tribes across North Carolina. Being on the Council allows me to be a voice for all Native American’s residing in North Carolina that has a disability.”
Lambert holds a master’s of arts degree in educational administration from Western Carolina University, along with a bachelor’s of science degree in business administration. She is currently the Executive Director for Vocational Opportunities of Cherokee, Inc. which includes the Cherokee Tribal Vocational Rehabilitation Program. She also serves as a Governor appointee to the NC State Independent Living Council.
Lambert also holds the distinction of being the first EBCI tribal member to serve on the NC State Rehabilitation Council. Her term expires in 2018.
