WRESTLING: Cherokee loses to Swain

The Cherokee Wrestling team fell to the Swain County Maroon Devils on Thursday, Jan. 30 by a team score of 60-18.  The Braves picked up three pin falls, gave up three pin falls and five forfeits.

Jaron Bradley added another victory to his resume via pin fall.  Anthony Toineeta and Justin Buchanan also picked up a win by pinning their opponents.

113 – Cayden Cacciotti (Sw) won by forfeit

120 – Jared Southards (Sw) won by forfeit

126 – Chris Miller (Sw) pinned Levi Swearengin (Ch)

132 – Anthony Toineeta (Ch) pinned Raine Bradley (Sw)

138 – Russell Bigmeat (Sw) pinned Ethan Swearengin (Ch)

145 – Jaron Bradley (Ch) pinned Austin Padilla (Sw)

152 – Lukus Woodard won by forfeit

160 –Justin Buchanan (Ch) pinned Michael Smith

170 – Ross Ensley (Sw) pinned Daniel Griffin (Ch)

182 – Caleb Woodard (Sw) pinned Daniel Griffin (Ch)

195 – Spencer McCoy (Sw) won by forfeit

220 – Corbin Wildcat (Sw) won by forfeit

285 – Craig Cutshaw (Sw) pinned Raymond Taylor (Ch)

Overall, it was a tough night out for the Cherokee Braves wrestling team, but the men put up a good showing.  The next set of matches is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 14 at Robbinsville High School as several members of the team advance to the regionals tournament.
