Michael “Bear” Pheasant, 35, of Cherokee passed away on Jan. 25, 2014 at the Cherokee Indian Hospital following a brief illness. Michael is the son of Linda Reed and husband Don Kerseg and the late Leonard Littlejohn.
Michael is survived by his companion, Mystical Parker; children, Makayla Pheasant, Shiah Pheasant and Khylan Pheasant; brothers, Robert “Bug” Groenewold of Cherokee and Zaccheus Littlejohn of Cleveland, Tenn.; sisters, Janice Pheasant and husband Emerson Sequoyah, Randy Pheasant and fiancé Charlie Bird and Lucinda Childers all of Cherokee and Keisha Ballew of Cleveland, Tenn.; uncles, Bruce Reed, Burton Littlejohn and David Taylor all of Cherokee; aunts, Mary Grauman of Ball Club, MN, Bessie Welch, Matilda Calhoun, Iva Gentry, Julia Lossiah and husband, Kirk Lossiah, Nellie Littlejohn, Mollie Littlejohn, Charlotte Littlejohn, Mary Jane Smith and husband Alan Smith all of Cherokee. Michael also leaves behind an unborn grandchild Aleena Deanne as well as many nieces and nephews.
Michael is preceded in death by grandparents, Samuel and Lucinda Reed, Jim and Mollie Littlejohn.
A visitation was held on Jan. 28 at the Cherokee Church of God. Michael remained at the church to await the hour of service on Jan. 29. Burial followed at the Reed Family Cemetery. The Wolftown Indian Stickball players were pall bearers, and Pastor Betty Drake and Pastor Charles Griffin officiated.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
