Bats play a critical role in the natural world and deserve our respect and protection.
Each of these winged eating machines can consume up to 1,000 mosquito-sized insects in just one hour. There are many things you can do to help bat populations including reporting observations of sick bats, putting up a bat box on your property, and spreading the word on the importance of bats and the problems they face. The Cherokee Fisheries and Wildlife Management program is currently working with EBCI tribal members to help bats by giving away limited number of free bat boxes. Info: Mike LaVoie 497-1802.
