Geneva Rose Sneed (Momma Gene) Jackson, 82, of Cherokee went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, Feb. 19, 2013 in Tsali Care Center. A native of Cherokee, she was the daughter of the late Samuel Blakely and Naomi Tucker Sneed and wife of the late Elijah (Truck) Jackson. She was a pediatric nurse having worked for many years at Swain County Hospital, Cherokee Indian Hospital, and Harris Regional Hospital. She was preceded in death by a brother, Samuel Sneed.
She is survived by two daughters, Mary Littledave of Cherokee, Martha St. Clair and husband Wallace of Cherokee; three sons, Mark Howard Jackson and wife Sherri of Anchorage, Alaska, Harlan Leverne Squirrell of Cherokee, James Bud Smith of Cherokee; 15 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; six sisters, Emma Catherine Sneed of Cherokee, Doris Lee Wilkerson of San Antonio, TX, Sue McManus of Jonesboro, Tenn., Rita Ann Divelbiss of Melbourne, Fla., Daphne Hambrook of Washington, Judy Cook of Cherokee; and one brother, Daniel Keith Sneed of Cherokee.
Funeral services will be held at 2pm on Saturday, Feb. 23 at Old Antioch Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. Denny Crowe and James (Bo) Parris will officiate.
