Lawanda Jane Sampson Maney, 69, of 6 Dillard Maney Rd. in Cherokee passed away unexpectedly at the Cherokee Indian Hospital on Monday, Feb. 18, 2013.
She was the daughter of the late Guy Littlejohn and Leauna Sampson Littlejohn both of Cherokee. She was a bus driver for the Jackson County School System for Twelve years and was a member of the Wright’s Creek Baptist Church.
Lawanda is survived by her children, sons, Jon Mark Maney and Samuel Allen Maney; one daughter, Una Lea Sampson; two sisters, Gwen Wildcatt and Jo Be Kalonaheskie; six grandchildren, Charity Sampson, Ryne Sampson, Dallas Walk, Latyra Maney, Jonah Maney and Josiah Maney; six great-grandchildren, Cameron, Timber, Maia, Kylanna, R-ly and Eli all of Cherokee.
She was preceded in death by grandson, Jacob Noah; brother, Duffy Sampson; sisters Lil Wolfe, Elsie Martin, Mickey Sampson and Tunie Catt all of Cherokee.
A visitation is planned for Wednesday, Feb. 20 from 5pm – 12midnight and will be held at the Wright’s Creek Baptist Church in Cherokee. A funeral service will follow on the next day Thursday, Feb. 21 starting at 2pm with Pastors Dan Lambert, Roland Whittaker and Patrick O’Dell officiating. An immediate burial will follow the funeral service in the Crow Family Cemetery with David Jumper, Jerry Sampson, Johnny Wildcatt, Leon Sampson, Andy Gloyne and Ryne Sampson acting as Pall Bearers.
