Cherokee Elementary School took seven students to the 2013 NC Science and Engineering Regional Science Fair on Tuesday, Feb, 5 hosted by Western Carolina University. A total of 16 counties sent students to the Regionals. Of the seven students from CES that competed, two received honorable mentions and an invitation to compete in the State Finals in Raleigh including Hallah Panther and Maya Cruz. Other students participating included: Lauren Luther, Kalista Luther, Caden Pheasant, Rocky Peebles, and Zoey Walkingstick. Fifty students were represented from the Western NC Region, and eight were chosen to compete at the State Science Fair. Of those eight, four students were from Cherokee (two from CES and two from the Kituwah Academy). The State Science Fair will be held at Meredith College in Raleigh on March 15-16.
