Juanita Wilson, Southwestern Community College’s program director for The Right Path (“Du-yu tv-i) Adult Leadership Program, has been selected to the national Circle of Leadership Academy.
Native Americans in Philanthropy and the Center for Leadership Innovation partner in this program to empower emerging Native American leadership in the philanthropic and nonprofit sectors. The goal of the 18-month leadership development academy is to enrich leadership skills rooted in Native values and traditions. CoLA engages emerging and mid-career Native American leaders and educates them in the field of philanthropy and nonprofits through professional development, networking and mentorship opportunities.
Wilson, an EBCI tribal member and a North Carolina Governor’s Leadership Institute graduate, said she is honored to be chosen for this prestigious program and feels “my involvement will benefit the Right Path Program, which is all about Native American leadership.”
Wilson received her Associate in Applied Science in administrative office technology from Southwestern Community College, her Bachelor of Science degree from Western Carolina University and a Master’s degree from Montreat College. She currently chairs the advisory board of SCC’s Oconaluftee Institute for Cultural Arts.
Wilson will begin her CoLA involvement next month at the Native Americans in Philanthropy National Summit April 24-27 in California.
