Otis W. Bertrand, 69, of Cherokee passed away unexpectedly on Christmas Day at Cherokee Indian Hospital. He had lived in Cherokee for many years and was an employee of the Harrah’s Cherokee Casino. He was a veteran of the US Navy and had servied during the Vietnam era.
He is survived by his significant other, Frances Smith of Cherokee; a sister, Arlene Owen of Birmingham, Alabama; three sons, Michael Otis Bertrand of Louisiana, James Olen Bertrand of Columbia, SC, and David Ohm Bertrand of Texas; close friends, Curtis and Stephanie Arneach of Cherokee; and many freinds and co-workers who knew and loved him.
The funeral service was held on December 29, 2011, at 3 PM at the Yellowhill Baptist Church with the Rev. Foreman Bradley officiating.
