The Martin Fiddle Band will present a concert of Mountain Music, highlighted by the musical techniques of Manco Sneed, in the activities room of Tsali Care Center on Friday, Dec. 16 at 3pm.  The event is a return engagement for Wayne and Margaret Martin and their son Joseph, who delighted Tsali Care residents with a program of well-loved tunes in 2009.

Wayne and Margaret have many good friends of long-standing in Cherokee and their musical repertoire includes many numbers favored by generations of local musicians and audiences.  Wayne has mastered the fiddle techniques of Manco Sneed, who is nationally recognized as one of the outstanding Appalachian fiddlers of the 20th century.  The Martins are very pleased to perform at Tsali Care Center, where Manco’s daughter, Dakota, is a resident and their music has been so warmly appreciated.

Margaret, who plays banjo, and guitarist Joseph are members of the Cherokee Nation.  Joe recently graduated from UNC-Asheville with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology and awaits word of admission for graduate studies in cell biology.
