Vice Chief Larry Blythe and Phyllis Ashenfelter delivered 66 Christmas stockings to the patients at the Seven Clans Dialysis Center in Cherokee on Thursday, Dec. 17. The stockings have become a tradition for the patients and staff at the center.
In correlation with Dialysis Support Group Leader David McQueen, this project began in 2004 and has continued since that time.
“The stockings are just a reminder to those on dialysis that the elected officials have not forgotten them and that we’re thinking of them at Christmas time,” said Vice Chief Blythe.
The stockings contain apples, oragnes, candy, cookies and gum with a hand made ornament basket.
The Vice Chief’s office related, “It is a pleasure for the Vice Chief to go in person and spend some time with each of the patients. He is well received and much gratitude is extended for his thoughtfulness. We wish the best to all patients and staff of Seven Clans.”
Since the beginning of this project, Vice Chief Blythe has presented 326 stockings to the patients at the Dialysis Center.
