Painttown Community
The new Painttown Community Club has had a busy month. We started out by working hard on our entry for this year’s Christmas parade, with our theme being: “All I Want For Christmas Is Safety For Those Who Watch Over Our Community.” Special guests riding on our float included Mike Rich, of the Cherokee Fire Department who represented firemen, and Carl Esquivel, of the Cherokee Police Department who represented law enforcement officers. Unfortunately, our EMT and soldier were unable to ride on the float, but they were in our hearts as well.
We would like to thank Mike and Carl for helping us out, as well as for what they and their programs provide for our community. We would like to give a special thank you to Council Representative Terri Henry for all of her hard work and support. We had so much fun working with her. We wish to thank Todd Kent and Sound of Music for generously providing our sound, Calloway Ledford for lending us his trailer, Kissi Hornbuckle for lending us lights, and David Hicks for pulling our float. We didn’t place, but we feel it was a big success and we appreciate everyone who helped us out. We all had a good time.
On Nov. 15, we had our Old Fashion Box Supper which was a success. We want to thank Mike Driver for being our auctioneer. We were all very impressed by his skills and greatly appreciate his assistance. Thanks to everyone who cooked or bid on the delicious food.
In January, we will begin working on our event schedule for the coming year. Regular monthly meetings for Painttown Community Club are on the last Monday of each month. New club officers are: Yona Wade, chairman; Cynthia Grant, vice-chair; Amy Pete-Ochoa, secretary; Pat Hornbuckle, treasurer; and Billie Jo Rich, youth representative. We welcome and encourage all community members to attend, as we have some great things in store for Painttown.
