The Tsa La Gi Flames traveled to Asheville to play Roberson for the final game of their season on Saturday, Nov. 21. Right from the beginning, it was clear Roberson was not going to make it easy for the Flames.
Taking advantage of tremendous passing and ball placement of their Flames teammates, Darius Thompson, Chayton Thompson and Russell Bigmeat were able to score in the first half. With Kenzie Garcia in goal, Storm Ledford and Wade Wolfe flawless on defense, the Flames were able to hold Roberson at 3-0 at half time.
The second half ended up being the true challenge for the Flames as Roberson came out more determined and hungry for the win. Roberson’s offense managed to score two unanswered goals, making it 3-2.
Storm Ledford stepped up to the plate and shut down three more rushes on goal by Roberson attackers. This sparked the Flames offense and Bigmeat brought the ball down the left side of the field, drawing Roberson defenders. With precise placement, he centered the ball in front of the Roberson goal. Using perfect timing, Jeremy Parker moved in and shot the ball into the back of the Roberson net for a 4-2 lead.
Despite all efforts, Roberson couldn’t recover before time ran out and the Flames took the victory ending their season at 11-1.
