REV. TIMOTHY L. MELTON, PASTOR
CHEROKEE PENTECOSTAL HOLINESS CHURCH
“And the Holy Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. For example, we don’t know what God wants us to pray for. But the Holy Spirit prays for us with groanings that cannot be expressed in words.
“And the Father, who knows all hearts, knows what the Spirit is saying, for the Spirit pleads for us believers, in harmony with God’s own will.
“And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.”
Romans 8:26-28 (NLT)
(“As believers, we are not left to our own resources to cope with problems. Even when we don’t know the right words to pray, the Holy Spirit prays with—and for us—and God answers. With God helping us pray, we don’t need to be afraid to come before Him. Always ask the Holy Spirit to intercede for you ‘in harmony with God’s own will’ trusting He will always do what is best.” From NLT Study Bible.)
His groanings can help us in a good way with our infirmities and human weaknesses. If we allow Him to strengthen us in our inner man’s resolve, we can assuredly find a good and satisfying solution with His help. His groanings can help strengthen our resolve to channel our especially angry emotions through Him. Joining a justifiable anger together with His anger, perhaps at some unreasonable injustice; can help us arrive at a better way to achieve a positive outcome. We are to use our anger as a tool—not just emotion, neither as a weapon. An over-energetic reaction would quickly use up and waste the energy. It could cause the venting of frustrations only it solves nothing.
Joining with Him, in a right way of solution, can help if we could focus on good solutions instead of being angry. As our faith in Him increases, and trusting we are now properly aligned with His powerful stance, we can then arise together in a perfect, harmonious resolution. In this way we would be forming an alliance of formidable power, tempered with His Wisdom, Grace and Mercy. We can grow-up tremendously by producing the spiritual fruit of self-control. Its the result of handling our anger His way—and gets rid of much residual stress and frustration. His perfect way of handling all kinds of things even helps with lack, or if we are in debt. He can help us more as we begin to trust Him as the ‘friend, who sticks closer than a brother’. Jesus said,
“When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future.
“He will bring me glory by telling you whatever he receives from me.
“All that belongs to the Father is mine; this is why I said, ’The Spirit will tell you whatever he receives from me.”
John 16:13-15 (NLT)
(“The truth into which the Holy Spirit guides us is the truth about Christ. The Spirit also helps us through patient practice to discern right from wrong.
“Jesus said the Holy Spirit would tell them ‘about the future’–the nature of their mission, the opposition they would face, and the final outcome of their efforts. They didn’t fully understand these promises until the Holy Spirit came after Jesus’ death and resurrection. The Holy Spirit revealed truths to the disciples that they wrote down in the books forming the New Testament”—from NLT Study Bible.)
“Concerning the times of Elijah and Elisha, it is written that the whole school of prophets ‘knew’ what was going to happen that day to Elijah…and God is able to share with each one of us what we are doing today or next week. What if we didn’t hear Him—who daily loads us with benefits?
“He will reveal Truth to us. Read I John 2:27. He abides in me…abide in Him. He wants to teach us this—to talk to us. He will empower us in the inner man. Ephesians 3:16. He is mighty in me! Everything talked about is already in us. Do for others…because He said so!
“God spoke to Jesus through the Holy Ghost! He healed the sick…When we believe in Him as healer and we take His Word (the Rhema Word) as Truth. Word was written down for us. Word was given to us as truth. Word concerns our future. Reveal it to us, Lord!”
