TRACK & FIELD: CHS team participates in Fast Track Invitational

WINSTON-SALEM – Several members of the Cherokee High School track team participated in the Champion Fast Track High School Invitational indoor track meet in Winston-Salem on Saturday, Jan. 14.

Eddie Swimmer, one of the CHS track coaches, said in a Facebook statement about the team’s first indoor meet,  “It was a little overwhelming, but our kids did what they been training to do! We are a young team, freshman, sophomore and juniors. I know all our kids in our school can be competitors, but these few stand yards above the rest, in bravery, discipline, determination, commitment! They have put in hard work and it is paying off.”

Their results, per ncmilesplit.com, are as follows:

* 1600M Run – Dorian Reed, 53rd place, 6:31.83

* Shot Put – Tierra Toineeta, 11th place, 28-8; Devy George, 14th place, 27-5

* 300M Dash – Jordan Grant, 77th place, 45.46

* 55M Hurdles – Jordan Grant, 38th place, 10.83
