betty-smoker-jacksonBetty Jean Smoker Jackson, 75, of the Jackson Branch Community in Robbinsville, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, Oct. 21, 2016 at Mission Hospital in Asheville.

A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Amanda Smoker.  In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Jackson in 1996, her granddaughter, Sydney Jackson, and her son in law, Leland Welch.

Betty was retired from the Graham County School System after working there for many years.

She is survived by her son, Clarence Jackson Jr. and his wife Maureen of Robbinsville; her daughters and sons in law, Jeanie Marie Welch of Robbinsville, Mary and Dennis Pilkington of Fontana Dam, Wanda and Larry Blythe of Robbinsville, Donna Jackson and Ansley Jackson of Robbinsville, and Michelle and Eddie Stamper of Cherokee.  Her grandchildren are Stephanie Bridges, Shelby Jackson, Danielle Jones, Holly Swimmer, Kelly Jackson, Stuart Jackson, Blake Powers, Blaze Powers, Sam Blythe, Josh Taylor, Laura Blythe, Lloyd Blythe, Driver Blythe, Ansley Jackson, and Cain Stamper.  She has 19 great grandchildren, Tayen Bridges, Tylie Bridges, Tacey Bridges, Tavok Bridges, Amiyah Collins, JaeLee Jackson, Natalie Swimmer, Finnley Swimmer, Hunter Jones, Rachel Blythe, Nicki Blythe, Maiya Blythe, Samantha Blythe, Nate Crowe, Lily Ramos, Memphis Taylor, Finley Taylor, Emily Blankenship, and Logan Blankenship.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Oct. 25 at Little Snowbird Baptist Church.  The Reverends Jim Teasdale and Bo Parris officiated.  Burial followed at the Jackson Family Cemetery.
