CIPD patrol officer charged with weapons offenses

On Wednesday, July 27 at approximately 6:56 am, Cherokee Indian Police Department Officers responded to a report of a male subject that had discharged a firearm in a public area. Upon arrival, CIPD officers placed Israel Weeks under arrest and transported him  to the  Anthony Edward Lossiah Justice Center for processing. No one was injured during the incident.

Weeks was charged with:

14-34.11 Aggravated Weapons Offense

14-10.9 Criminal Mischief

14-25.12 Disorderly Conduct

14-40.15 Discharging Firearm into Occupied Property

14-34.10 Weapons Offense

Weeks was placed under a $10,000.00 cash bond.

At the time of the incident, Weeks was recently hired at the Cherokee Indian Police Department as a patrol officer, and was currently in the employment probation period.
