The Museum of the Cherokee Indian will offer free programs through the end of December. The “Cherokee Friends” will provide guided tours of the exhibits and programs on making fire, storytelling, and traditional weapons.
“We hope that people will come out to learn more about our culture, meet Cherokee people, and have fun,” said Bo Taylor, Museum executive director. All programs and workshops will be conducted by EBCI tribal members.
Free programs will be held on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays from Dec. 16-31. The Cherokee Friends will provide guided tours at 11am and 1 pm. They will give demonstrations at 2pm that may include making fire from friction; storytelling; and traditional weapons including blowgun, war club, and atlatl. Every Friday afternoon from 1-2pm, Jerry Wolfe, Beloved Man of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, will tell stories in the Ken Blankenship Education Wing.
