MURPHY – Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel hosted its first job fair for table games dealers and surveillance officers on Friday, March 20 at Tri-County Community College in Murphy. The event drew more than 500 people from the surrounding area. Nearly 180 attendees were offered positions as table games dealer trainees, and 45 were offered positions as surveillance officer trainees.
“We’re very pleased with the turnout for our first job fair,” Lumpy Lambert, Harrah’s Cherokee Valley River Casino & Hotel general manager, said. “We will continue to host more job fairs in the region over the coming months in order to fill the 800 positions required before opening later this year.”
Table games dealer trainee positions are open to anyone who passes a math assessment and a panel interview. Candidates do not have to know how to deal black jack, craps or roulette at the time of hire. Table games dealers are responsible for dealing games and providing a courteous and entertaining experience for guests. Dealers are anticipated to earn $30,000-$50,000 annually, based on tips.
Upcoming job fairs will highlight table games dealers in addition to slot hosts, slot techs, facilities/maintenance, cashiering, hotel, and food and beverage.
