BUS DEPARTMENT NEWS
Allan Oocumma, Bus and Truck Department Manager, has announced his retirement from the Boys Club. Allan will be on annual leave beginning August 1 until his last day with the Club on Sept. 12. In the Board meeting on Wednesday, the Board passed a resolution naming Albert Arch the Acting Bus and Truck Department Manager effective July 1 until that position can be filled. Jasper Wolfe of the Bus and Truck Department has also announced his retirement from the Club. His last day will be Thursday, July 31.
CHILD CARE NEWS
The Agelink and After-School programs are participating in many different activities over their summer vacation. Visiting church groups will be providing Bible School on the following dates:
June 23-27 Trinity Presbyterian Church from Harrisburg, Pennsylvania
June 30-July 3 Peace Korean from Fair Lawn, New Jersey
July 21- 25 Tampa Bay Church from Tampa, Florida
The children are also are enjoying field trips, trips to the movies, community walks, visits to the Library, Ginger Lynn Welch Center, the Arcade and Dairy Queen.
Their summer topics include pirates, oceans, outer space and bugs. Special events include rocket launch, tie-dye shirts and socks, building a pirate ship and water play. They are also experiencing special foods such as tropical fruit, ice cream and locally grown fruits and vegetables.
NEW CHILDRENS HOME CONSTRUCTION
Work continues on the construction of the new Children’s Home facility in the Birdtown Community. Check out the Children’s Home’s Facebook page for pictures of the progress being made. The new Home is located on Goose Creek Road where the former Family Support Services office used to be.
