Samuel Lee Maney, 48, of the Yellowhill Community, went home to be with the Lord, Friday, May 23, 2014 in a Cherokee Hospital. A native of Cherokee, he was the son of Charlotte Maney of Cherokee and the late Norman Maney. He was a member of the Yellowhill Baptist Church. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran and he was a firefighter with the BIA Forestry Department. He was a member of the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual. He was the grandson of the late Sam and Cora Wahneetah.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by one sister, Melissa Maney; two nephews, Jarrett Wildcatt, and Anthony Lansing; two aunts, Margaret French and husband Gary, and Lois Pensavalla, and several cousins.
Funeral Services were held on Monday, May 26 at Yellowhill Baptist Church. Rev. James (Red) Bradley officiated. Burial was in the Yellowhill Veterans Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Steve Youngdeer American Legion Post #143.
Crisp Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
