BASKETBALL: Braves, Lady Braves receive Conference honors

Several members of the Cherokee Braves and Lady Braves varsity basketball teams were named to the 2013-14 All-Conference lists for the Big Smoky Mountain Conference.  Dustin Johnson and Jason McMillan made the list along with their coach Willis Tullos who was named a Co-Coach of the Year along with Michael Cottrell of Hayesville and Tommy Johnson of Robbinsville.  The three teams shared a portion of the regular season title.

Kendall Toineeta and Avery Mintz made the list along with their coach Chris Mintz who was named Coach of the Year.  Toineeta, who helped lead the Lady Braves to their fourth straight Sectional Championship, was named Player of the Year.  Bree Stamper, Peri Wildcatt and LeLe Lossiah all received Honorable Mention honors.

Several EBCI tribal members from other area schools were also on the All-Conference lists including: Cruz Galaviz (Robbinsville), Brett Crowe (Robbinsville), Raymius Smith (Swain), and Alea Tisho (Swain).
