The Cherokee Children’s Coalition Committee wants to thank everyone who helped make the Week of the Young Child events and the 5K Walk/Run happen. The children and families had a blast! Many programs and individuals donated time, money, prizes, t-shirts and food. Donations came from Nancy Pheasant, Lee Garden, Sequoyah Fund, Wolfetown Community and the Tribal Allotment. These donations helped pay for the inflatables for the fair and the T-shirts for the children and child care staff.
So many people donated door prizes and water that it would be hard to name them all. Some of the donors include Lois Dunston, Lisa Taylor, B&R Dozin’, Ranch Viejo, EBCI Business Development Office (Punkin Griffin), Food Lion, Don Layton, Rivers Edge Outfitters, Fashion Nails, Ethan Holden, Hazel Young, Southern Charm, Pepsi Co. Hot dogs and buns were provided by Agelink and the Dora Reed Center. WIC provided the berries and yogurt.
Finally, thanks to Robin Swayney (Library), Amanda Bradley (Dora Reed Center), and Ike Bird (Agelink Parent). These people helped coordinate the event and made sure the donations were collected. If you enjoyed the Week of the Young Child Fair and you see one of these people, be sure to thank them as well.
If you would like to get involved in the Cherokee Children’s Coalition, the next meeting will be August 27, 2013 in the Agelink School Age Building Conference Room.
