Ernest Michael “Mike” Campbell, 58, of 35 John Whitetree Road in Cherokee, passed away at his home on March 15, 2013 following a extended illness with his loving family by his side.
Mike was the son of the late Ernest Spurgin Campbell and Dorothy Smith Campbell of Gaston County area of North Carolina. He was the loving husband to his wife of 36 years Mrs. Deborah Cope Campbell of Gaston Co. NC. Mike and Deborah had moved to Cherokee to be among the Cherokee people whom they loved and had ancestral roots.
He is survived by his children; sons, Gregory Campbell, James Campbell, Billy Joe Campbell, Dwayne Parson, Michael Cope and Shannon Campbell; one daughter Christol Campbell; nephews, Steve Self, Jeff Self and Scott Self; nieces, Lisa Bates and Debbie Hott; seventeen Grand Children and one Great Grandchild.
Along with his parents Mike was preceded in death by sisters, Marsh Self and Patricia Young.
A visitation was held for Mike on Sunday, March 17 at the Long House Funeral Home chapel with funeral service following immediately. Brother Pressley of the Church of God Bryson City officiated.
The service concluded at the Appalahian Crematorium.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family in services.
