Flora Mae Smith, 71, of the Painttown community went home to be with the Lord Sunday, Dec. 23, 2012 in a Swain County Health care facility. A native of Swain County, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Stella Wilnoty Kanott and wife of the late Ralph Smith.
She is survived by four children, Charles Smith and wife Debbie of Cherokee, Ralph Smith, Jr. of Cherokee, Charlotte Rogers and husband Steve of Pleasant Garden, NC, Will Smith and wife Tina of Cherokee; seven grandchildren; one great grandchild; and one brother, Robert Kanott of Bryson City.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Dec. 27 at Yellowhill Baptist Church of which she was a member. Revs. Bo Parris and James (Red) Bradley officiated with burial in Kanott Family Cemetery
