In what appears to be a trend this season, Cherokee’s varsity basketball teams swept yet another team. This time it was Blue Ridge on Tuesday, Dec. 11. The Lady Braves (7-0) kept their perfect season intact doubling Blue Ridge’s points in a 76-38 win. The Braves (5-2) won 69-52.
Avery Mintz and Kendall Toineeta teamed up for 45 of Cherokee’s points with 24 and 21 respectively. The Lady Braves jumped out early and led by 10 (21-11) after the first period and led 46-17 at halftime. They kept it going in the second half outscoring Blue Ridge 30-21 to take the 38-point win.
Other Lady Braves scorers included: Bree Stamper 4, Kaycee Lossiah 2, Alexis Maney 10, Brianna Jumper 2, Deija Burgess 7, Angel Saine 3 and Peri Wildcat 3.
Full stats were not available for Blue Ridge.
Seth Littlejohn led the Braves again with 20 points followed by Jesse Toineeta and Dustin Johnson with 10 apiece.
The Braves led 24-11 after the first period and took a 39-24 lead into the locker room at the half. The second half was much closer with the Braves outscoring Blue Ridge 30-28, but the first half lead was enough for the 17-point win.
Other Braves scorers included: Brandt Sutton 4, Kennan Panther 3, Stephen Swan 4, Darius Thompson 7, Hunter Lambert 4, Derrick Ledford 3 and Silas Reed-Littlejohn 2.
Brian Thommes led Blue Ridge with 18. Other Blue Ridge scorers included: Daniel Hickman 6, Cristian Mareles 5, Dale Riddle 2, Spencer Ferlita 7, Craig Ezechel 2, Hunter Stewart 6, Jason Newton 4 and Davin Perez 2.
