Keredith “Tooter” Owens (left) presents a check in the amount of $1,535 to Leslie Lossiah of the Family Support Services Department of the Cherokee Boys Club. The check was donated by Owens on behalf of the Jackson County Moose Lodge who recently sponsored the “People Helping People Toy Run” to benefit the Christmas Store in Cherokee and other children in need in Jackson County.
The Christmas Store is provided each year by Family Services to help parents going through difficult times to be able to provide gifts for their children at Christmas.
This is the second year of the Toy Run which has raised several thousands of dollars and collected a significant number of toys to help children and families during the holiday season.
T-shirts are still available from the Toy Run at a cost of $15 each. If you are interested in purchasing a shirt, contact Tooter Owens 497-6934 for more information. Proceeds from the sale of these shirts will also benefit the Christmas Store.
“The Family Support Services’ staff and Boys Club Staff appreciate the support and assistance provided over the years from the Jackson County Moose Lodge and those volunteers who helped with the event,” Family Support Services officials related.
The Moose Lodge is an international organization of men and women dedicated to caring for young and old, bringing communities closer together and celebrating life.
