Allen Ray “Rabbit” Carver, 67, of 2875 Wright’s Creek Rd. in Cherokee, NC passed away unexpectedly on Nov. 7, 2012 at the Heart Tower of Mission Hospitals in Asheville, NC.
Allen was the husband to the late Beatrice Maney Carver his loving wife of 48 years and was the son of the late Dewey Carver and Grace Craig Carver.
Allen was retired from Qualla Housing in 2003 where he had worked as a heavy equipment operator.
Allen is survived by his children, son, Chad Eric Carver and daughter, Rhonda Rae Carver, both of Cherokee; brothers, Robert Lee Carver of Maggie Valley, Ricky Carver of Canton, James Carver of Maggie Valley; and one sister, Maureen Howell of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Statham Cash Carver and Abbygale Grace Swayney, both of Cherokee.
He was further preceeded in death by sons Thomas Ray, Andy Ray and Richard Allen, two brothers, Billy Carver and Junior Carver and four sisters, Patsy Wyatt, Inez Buchanan, Jeanette Melton and Edna Curtis.
A funeral service was held in the Long House Chapel on Saturday, Nov. 10 at 1 PM with Pastor Richie Sneed officiating and Johi Griffin Justin Carver, George Burgess, Ray Bradley, Bart Campbell, Boomer and Dewayne Wiggins acting as pall bearers. An immediate burial followed at the Carver Family Cemetery on Dobson Ridge Road.
Long House Funeral Home assisted the family in the arrangements of services.
